Coronavirus - Covid-19 TCA is temporary closed.

                                                                                                                        March 14, 2020

To our guests and staff,

With the growing concerns of the Corona Virus (Covid-19) we wanted to provide you with an update in regards to the Toronto Climbing Academy.

As of now, we are open regular hours, with extended hours from Monday March 16th- Friday March 20th (9am-11pm), with small March break Camps running next week.  But this might change and we will provide updates as often as possible.  The TCA will be following advice and guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) to keep our gym safe.

First of all, the health and well-being of our guests and staff is our top priority. We want to ensure members of the community that we are taking concerns about COVID-19 (coronavirus) seriously and we have implemented extra measures to ensure a safe environment for all patrons. We are monitoring the situation and recommendations of public health organizations and will update as the situation evolves.

The symptoms of COVID-19 are: fever, cough, muscle aches or tiredness, difficulty breathing.

Anyone feeling sick or experiencing these symptoms, please stay home, get rest and take care. Even if you feel well enough, we ask all to be considered of others, and help us limit the spread of disease by staying home (14 day self-isolation recommended period).

Taiwan experts provide a simple self-check that we can all do every morning.  Take a deep breath and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds.  If you complete it successfully without coughing, without discomfort, stiffness or tightness, etc., it provides there is no Fibrosis in the lungs, basically indicates no infection.  In this critical time we ask everyone, please self-check every morning in an environment with clean air.

We are taking extra measures to protect everyone who comes to TCA, and ask all clients and staff to:

- We have asked all of our staff to stay home if they are not comfortable going to work

- Wash hands with soap as often as possible with water for at least 20 seconds (Sanitize upon arrival, during, and afterwards too)

- Extra sanitizer is available at the front desk

- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth

- If you cough or sneeze, do it in a tissue or with your elbow (not with your hands) and remind your children to do the same

- Reminding everyone to wash hands every 30 minutes and use sanitizer

- Cleaning the front desk frequently and high traffic areas

- Desk staff are encouraged to wear gloves while at desk (masks are optional)

-Increasing communication with guests to employees on health and safety measures

- Reduce physical contact

According to Doctors from Japan….Take a few sips of water every 15 minutes at least. Why? Even if the virus gets into your mouth, drinking water or other liquids will wash them down through your throat and into the stomach.  Once there, your stomach acid will kill the entire virus.  If you don’t drink enough water more regularly, the virus can enter your windpipe and into the lungs, which is very dangerous.  So hydrate as often as possible.  Drink, Drink, Drink!

Please remember, if you have been exposed (travelling or having symptoms), have a fever, feeling ill, high temperature, we ask you to show consideration for the public and stay home as recommended by WHO until the 14-day incubation period is over.

Thank you,

TCA Family
